Bobbing Buddies & Swim Squad
Our weekly swim sessions take place from 1-2pm on Sundays at the Frontenac Mall Boys and Girls Club.
- Provides children involved with the Down Syndrome Association of Kingston the opportunity to improve their comfort in the water and their swimming ability.
- The participants are partnered with a volunteer and a 1-1 ratio is constantly maintained.
- The volunteers work with the participants to assess their skill level and complete activities to improve their swimming abilities.
- Currently we have participants ranging from 1 year to 16 years of age.
On the Town
- A new program catering to children above the age of 10 years old with Down Syndrome and their siblings.
- Involves community-based activities in which participants are matched up with volunteers with a 1-1 ratio.
- Goal: facilitate social interactions in the community in a controlled, safe setting.
- Future On the Town excursions: grocery shopping & picnic, assisting with fundraising for DSAK and Extra Awesome, bowling, skating, mini-putting, scavenger hunts, and more!
- The program will also act as respite for the families.
